I've just been wondering something. How come on a lot of the cases and skins theres a little circle hole cut out of the material in the upper left of the front? Anyone know what it's for?

    It's the ambient light sensor.

    its for iphones

instead of companys making two different kinds of cases i think they cheated and made it so they are compatible with the iphone and ipod touch..... CHEATERS

and yea i think it is pretty pointless

Why would they put it on the iPod Touch, clearly on my iPod I can see the sensor, meaning something is there.

Nope, it is definitely the ambient light sensor.

Make sure that you have it turned on in the Settings under display. It will dim the light when you're in a dark area, and raise it when you're in a bright place.

Look at it under direct light, you'll see a little dark circle.

I figured that was what it was... Kinda like on the BlackBerry Pearl. Which I find VERY annoying. How do I keep it at one brightness?

Just turn it off under the display settings (under the brightness slider).
