Hi i have a iphone 3g with firmware 3.1.2 and i want to use my T Mobile Sim on it. Im pretty new to this so i want to know how to unlock it. Also what's baseband? Can someone show me the full tutorial on how to do this briefly. I already have the blackrain app. Also will unlocking it mess up the apps i already have on it.

What else do i need to know about it, is it tethered or un-tethered.

    Thanks

For me and my 3G iPhone, the easiest jailbreak and unlock was to create custom firmware on a mac and use that to restore my iPhone. Then open Cydia and install ultra snow for the unlock. It preserved my baseband and I am on 3.1.2. I have not tried blackrain yet.

I don't have a mac so I needed to create my firmware on a family members Mac. However, Google is your friend

I've used Pwnage Tool and blackra1n and the latter was much easier.

I like having both options but blackra1n was far easier to use.

I believe the easiest way for you to do this would be to download the newest version of blackra1n and install it. Once you have done that I believe the thing you will see near cydia and all that jazz is called blacksn0w? Just install that and your done.
