So i have a new ipod touch 2nd gen and I want to jailbreak it.
My question is concering the method of jailbreaking the ipod.
I know the blackra1n is for the 3.1.2 firmware, and that redsn0w is for firmwares previous to that, but i was wondering if i should update my ipod to 3.1.2, then use blackra1n, or simply use redsn0w? Do you get anything extra for updating to 3.1.2 vs using redsn0w on a 2.1.1 firmware? I was just curious because its a higher firmware, or are the end results the exact same?

Thank you, your answers are very appreciated.
