I am attempting to enter DFU mode. My itunes tells me that I am in recover mode, but the screen is black. will there be any clues like will itunes say I am in DFU mode?

If your screen is black and iTunes says that then you are in DFU mode......

Easy there homez, don't hate. I re-read your post and deleted mine after I saw that I had reiterated your statement

    Regular mode is obvious.

Recovery mode has the "Connect to iTunes" logo.

DFU mode has no logos and nothing on the screen at all, but iTunes behaves the same as if you were in Recovery mode.
