well, my friend f***ed up his jailbreaking (using ziphone)

and now his iPod is black with white writing.
    what should he do?

    should he factory restore
if he does, and restores his iPod will he loose all the songs he had from his old PC? he has *some* on his new one but about 1000 on his old one

if he restores, then clicks restore, instead of 'set up as new iPod' will that give him all the songs back?

You will lose all data by restoring. However, if you restore to a backup in iTunes, post restore, the settings/contacts, etc. will be transfered back. Not all songs will necessarily be copied back. If your friend synced with playlists, they will come back as well. If songs camed from multiple PC's, not all songs will come back.

I hope this is all clear.
