I have a quick question. I downloaded the sdk when it first came out for free, and I've yet to install it. My question is when I create an application, and I want to test it out on my iPod, and not the emulator, would I still need to pay the $99 fee to do so? I would be doing the coding without the membership of course(or do I need the membership to do the coding?)

You need a free membership to get the SDK (which you have already done). You need not pay to use XCode and make applications. However, you must be a paid developer to run your apps on your iDevice and submit to the AppStore. (It's possible to bypass the code signature, or pseudo-sign, but I am not as knowledgeable on that subject as I should be).

Download the latest free SDK (3.0) if you haven't already.
