    hey all,

I want to copy the contents of my iPod touch folder "private/var/stash" to my PC so that i have a copy of all the apps I have got from Cydia.

I have heard people going on about permission settings and that, when they transferred these files back ONTO their iPod touch/iPhone, they didn't work properly. So....what do i have to do to the files/folders in order for them to work properly for when i need to restore them onto my iPod touch.

    Advice is greatly appreciated.

Well you need to set the folders to the right permissions

So you need to know what they were before

    To find this out

While in WinSCP right click the folder and click properties its the octal value

But the permissions should always stay the same

If you take them off of your iPod and then put them back on, you should have no issues with permissions. You've already set their permissions, so they should still have the same permissions they had.

There's a cool program called iPhoneBrowser from google code that lets you see all of your files. You can just use copy-paste in it.

If you want to save all your Cydia apps, just try AptBackup from Cydia. On your next iTunes backup, all Cydia information will be sent from it.
