Just bought an Ipod Touch 8gb and love it so much. I am looking for an application, preferably free but does not have to be, and available from Itunes, that can quickly turn wi-fi on and off so that I can preserve battery power, rather than go into settings and turn on and off from there. Any recommendations please?

Secondly, can you lock the touch when turning off apart from having a password to get in? I want to prevent it turning on when I am asleep, as it may have done last night...I was seen to be online on Facebook, when I was not!

    Many thanks!

    jailbroken or not?
if jailbroken, through cydia, install sbsettings and add the wifi toggle.

you may or may not set through settings>general>passcodelock

No, it is not jailbroken and I do not want to do that. I will just have to search through Apps to find a wi-fi app which will turn off instead of having to go into setting each time. Just hoped someone would have found one that worked well for an unjailbroken ipod touch.

If you ever do decide to jailbreak, try SBSettings. Here's a picture:

You can install different toggles to switch on and off various settings. The Processes app lets you stop processes running in the background to save battery, such as music or safari.
