now I know it would still be up to the company to decide what to do... but here is my question.

Using an ssh client ie winscp if you blow everything away on the itouch/phone... will this in turn stop the unit from functioning there giving me the option to exchange my current itouch 1g for a new itouch 2g?

    comments?

No, you can't delete stuff from the BootROM, which is needed to be effectively "bricking".

Also, you would simply get a refurbished 1G iPod.
