questions in need of answers! :)

    i have had my ipod touch for a year it is a:
    capacity:16gb
    version:1.15(4B1)
    i manualy through itunes add my music and stuff
    i dont know if it 1st generation or 2nd (not sure what that is)

    i would like to update my ipod to the 2.2 version and have the jailbreak on it
    can someone plz tell me what is a jailbreak?
    and links to where i should install the 2.2. version and jailbreak?

    (oh and i have already bought the new version from itunes havent downloaded it yet)

    Jailbreak: The unlocking of UNIX filesystem so that it can be read and writen to. This basicly means that we can see the files that the ipod uses to work and change them and add things, like applications not from the appstore.

    http://[PIRACY.tb].org/*******/4527189/QuickPwn22.zip is where you can download Quickpwn, which will jailbreak your 2.2 firmware for you. Read the instructions VERY carefully and dont do anything you dont fully understand.

    ^ You will need a ******* client to download that like Bit******* or u*******. (u******* is much smaller download size)

    thank u! and do i download the version 2.2 to my ipod ?
    and just one more how can i when i download the version keep my playlist and music and video i have on it!

    well you deff. hav a lot of learning to do...
    a lot of people answered what jailbreaking is in depth so i won't go into that.
    but after you have installed the 2.2 firmware, thennnn comes jailbreaking. go to thebigboss.org, thats reliable. and it'll answer a lot of FAQ's
