Ok so I have a friend that has a couple of questions about the iPhone, I couldn't really help him with most of the questions except #4 a little because I only have an iPod Touch.

    Here's his questions:

Last one. Yes. Just upgrade and you're bricked.

    1. You don't have to

    2. if you get an iphone now it would be unlockable (untill an unlock comes out) but yes you would need the total internet plan and any text packages

    3. the guides are easy enough to do it on your own

    4. i've never bricked mine since 1.0.2 software. i messed up my iphone yesterday by messing with some files, so i restored to 1.1.1, then updated to 1.1.2 and it was still unlocked and fully working. (just follow guides before updating)

Why would it be unlockable if he got an iPhone now? Isn't there currently ways to unlock the iPhone?
