I previously owned a 2G iPhone running on TMobile.

As I speak, my dad is picking me up the 3GS on AT&T. Just a few noob questions.

1.) Is there any way AT&T can tell if I jailbroke it? (without showing them of course)
2.) Does Winterboard, etc. now work on the 3gs jailbreak? Thanks.

    1) No.
    2) Yes, it does.

Oh, and is there any real reason to jailbreak other than themes? Because all of the most used jailbroken apps are now somehow incorporated into 3.0/3GS.

Themes is a large part of why people choose to jailbreak. Other things include just downloading 3rd Party Applications that the Apple doesn't allow into their App Store. Basically just downloading tweaks for your phone that Apple will most likely never allow.

It's nice to have it jailbroken just in case you want to download a feature.

Running apps in the background is extremely useful (albeit at the cost of battery life).

Alright, thanks guys. Plus, I forgot about the emulators I've come to love.

Thanks for all of your help.

I couldn't agree more. When xGPS is downloading maps, I can check my e-mail and do other things in the meantime. Oh, there's another reason; xGPS

Jailbreaking really now has no downsides with iPhone 3GS. Battery life is near to a factory device, and you have virtually unlimited memory at your disposal.

AT&T, nor Apple, unless you consent to them checking your device, has any idea it has been jailbroken. If they find out otherwise, it is a violation of the law.

Don't forget the porn. Lots and lots of porn!

Just kidding, having categories to organize your apps is really nice and having quicker control via sbsettings is a major plus as well. You don't have to go into you settings app and flip through a few pages to turn off wifi or ssh or Bluetooth. If you ever have a problem and need to take it in you can always do a restore since most of the time that's what they ask you to do anyway.

Is there a tutorial anywhere on how to jailbreak with redsn0w 0.8? (as in, where do I get the BL's?)

And do I need to restore before jailbreaking with 0.8?
