I got a 3rd gen 8gb mc ipod touch, which i hear wont support multi tasking and sh*t (which i think is pretty bull since ive pretty much just bought a 2G) so is there an actuall point to upgrading to ios4 when i wont be getting the main feature of the update?

Wait five days, then update through iTunes. Then jailbreak if necessary.

Okay, I have the EXACT same iPod Touch as you. Our devices would be considered 2.5 generations to be exact. But if you had to download something based on generations, you would go with the 2nd generation. And yeah, just be patient and wait a few days, and hopefully the 4.0 firmware jailbreak will be released after the public release of the 4.0 firmware. Also, don't lose all hope just yet about not being able to multi-task and Backgrounder/ProSwitcher not working on the 4.0 jailbreak. Almost all of these problems will be patched/fixed in time. We just have to wait it out. Hope this helps!!
