(Question) How do you change an applications name via SSH?

    Hi, I was wondering whether it was possible or not to rename an application and not recieve the blank question mark icon that jsut crashes.

    SSH, and go to /Applications. Then pick the folder of the Application that you want to rename and rename it. Just remember not to delete the ".App"

    cool ill try this too... well im not sure if i want to change any names... + ive hidden the icon labels with summerboard

    That won't work. Many problems will occur, it "breaks" it.

    yeah that is what i was thinking too.... i didnt want to say it cause i didnt know much about it... but i thought that there were some file conections that basically look for the name of the app... right??

    @ddgv, Pretty much. I think it is because there are files that redirect to the app name, and then the file associations as you said. I think that is it essentially, but who knows. I know someone will come in to elaborate even further in a couple minutes xD

    x6blues ... thanks... that is my understanding about it ..... and i bet soon we will have an app that manages to change an app name.... (maybe) ... that could be cool right???.....
    like i said i dont really need to change the name since i hide the icon labels.... heeh... but never the less it could be cool to have it
