Can you backup your entire iPod as an IPSW file so that you can use an app like (god help me, I hate the name of this thing) Pwnage Tool to restore it with all your apps, settings, and everything intact?

My point is that I have my iPod at a state which is currently stable and working, yet I have dozens of apps installed, as well as many Repo resources. On top of that, I have each app to the settings I like (i.e. MobileChat has my account info, etc).

I know there are already tedious apps that will save your settings from individual apps, but that seems counter-productive. I don't want to sit there tapping away at 4000 things after I have completed a restore. I want a single restore point with everything intact.

So, is there anything like this or is there anything in the works to accomplish this task?

    Thanks

F.Y.I. I'm on a Mac and I can both AFP into my iPod and I use CyberDuck to SFTP into it. I could conceivably drag everything out of the iPod into a folder on my Mac, but I fear permissioning would be an issue if I tried to drag them back INTO the iPod.

Am I to assume this is not possible? I've done my fair share of searches in the forums, but I don't see anything like this.

I find it odd no one has requested such a feature, too.

Sadly there are a couple of issues, here.

    1. It is PC only. I'm on a Mac, like I said above.
    2. It doesn't make an IPSW file
    3. It only backs up files, not apps and settings
Thanks, though, but I did see this post before.

    Anyone else have an option?

iBaReS is crap. It fails to backup and just wants to go on a constant loop in Terminal.

I tried version 2.2, as well, and it didn't fix the loop issue.

Oh, and the name is stupid and juvenile. It looks like they made in in AOL translator. Who the hell tYpEs LK tHiS AnYmOrE? THey need to be slapped with a big fish.

So, are there other options for the Mac?

Actually I just tried this. At first I had the loop issue at 45% but then I dragged the application into my application folder and re-did the process and it completed successfully. It backs up apps, library, mobile, and root access.
