Say, hypothetically, that I tell iTunes to not sync all my music, but instead sync from a series of (auto)playlists. Whatever's not on those playlists gets left off, in an attempt at only keeping songs I genuinely like on my iPod Touch. My main sync (possibly only) item will be an autoplaylist that exludes anything rated less then two stars.

I also other sets of auto playlists, for example, that categories my music like the 90's Music filter that iTunes comes with (70's, 80's, 90's, 00's). For accuracy's sake in iTunes, I don't plan to base these auto playlists off my "Sync List". But say that I want iTunes to sync these playlists to my iPoT, too. Would it pull in these potentially unlikeable songs from my auto playlists, too?

You can check which songs you want on your ipod and which ones you do not want on your ipod.

Right, but that's exceedingly hard with a library over 500. I might end up doing that anyway.
