Hey I just got my iPod Touch less than a week ago. I was wondering about what you guys do with your iPod when you aren't using it. I've noticed in school my friend doesn't shut his iPod off all the way. He just turns off the screen and slips it in his pocket.

This makes me wonder if shutting it off all the time is really necessary.

So what do you guys do??

I just press the power button once, It turns off the screen, and after a few seconds it puts the ipod into sleep mode, if you are not listening to music. Turning it off completely requires it to completely boot from scratch when you turn it back on, which is a big waste of battery.

Shutting down frequently is unnecessary, as it uses more battery to keep booting up then to wake from sleep- mode. It is also inconvenient for me.

The only time that I turn mine off is at night.

I never turn mine off unless I have to restart it. It takes WAY too long to start up.

Agreed. It takes way too long to turn on and off. Just turn the wifi off, and put it into sleep mode.

    Works way better.

Actually, if you put it in sleep mode, you don't need to turn off the Wi-Fi first - it will automatically shut itself off within about 30 seconds (you can ping your iPod Touch to see). However, if you're sleeping & waking your iPod Touch a lot without using the Wi-Fi, definitely turn it off since it sucks up battery fast.
