Okay, as some of you know, I picked up my 120GB iPod classic today and I really like it. I was just scrolling through the menus checking everything out and I noticed that when I select a menu item, something shifts in my iPod, making a small deep clicking noise. Is this just the Hard Drive? Sorry, I never owned a hard drive media player before

im pretty sure its the hard drive because this noise sounds familiar to what my archos 605 occasionally did... hard drives tend to make noise

your just used to the flash memory. Unless it rattles while you move it then it should be fine. How many songs do you have that you needed to buy a classic?

It's the hard drive. My 80GB does the same thing.

I don't know if the new hard drives are maybe just a little bit louder, but the only time I started to notice my old mini's hard drive start clicking was right before the hard drive failed, but now I switched it over to a flash drive and it's quiet, and extended the battery life.

But I don't think they make flash cards in a high enough storage to witch out the classic's.
