Pairing with devices via bluetooth has to be with the iBlueNova app, your ipod must be jailbroken also.

Right now with Bluetooth, you can play Music through a bluetooth streo or headset, play games, transfer photos and bluetooth chat-only to another iPod or iPhone. That's it.

You have a blue tooth!! You should ask your dentist about that.

Seriously though, you are trying to do what? Send stuff to his iPod touch? If so you need to use an app for that, through the app store, mover is one I use, or bump. They also have games through the app store that use bluetooth, and some whiteboard apps. Are you saying that you both have the same app opened up, but it won't recognize him? If his bluetooth is on, which I assume it is, as you said "my phone picked them both up", then I would recommend respringing, if you both are jailbroken, if not, then restart it.

are you trying to connect the devices running an app, or trying to transfer an app?

You can't connect it to other phones. It'll connect but disconnect right away.
