I have just recieved an iPod touch that was jailbroken and went through my iTunes and restored it to the factory settings as if it were new. I plugged it in and when iTunes recognizes it and gives the tabs of summary, music, movies and so forth. Under the summary tab it says has the Version box. In the box it says that the iPhone software is up to date and under that it says that if my iPhone is experiencing problems I can restore it to its original settings. Is it because it was Jailbroken it says iPhone? Or does the iPod touch always show up as an iPhone? Thanks

It's NOT normal, it means you restored your iPod with iPhone software. You need to download the correct iPod software, and this time, when you restore, Shift+Click on the Restore button to browse for the software you downloaded.

I had recieved this iPod already jailbroken. I believe it was with Ziphone. I unjailbroke it and restored it through I tunes so I could start from scratch with a new iPod. When I connect it to iTunes it refers to it as an iPhone and I was just wondering if it was normal or if it was still from being Jailbroken that it shows up as an iPhone in iTunes.

Again, it is not normal and you need to restore with iPod software.

Where can I find a link to download the newest version for the Ipod touch? I couldn't seem to find it on apple.com.
    Thanks

For a secoond I though you were like some other guy whose thread I read. He restorred because he though his iPod believed it was an iPhone. As it turns out he had named his iPod touch "iPhone"

    LOL.
