When using Redsnow for the 3.0 fw it gives me a bunch of instructions on what buttons to press. If I know how to go into DFU mode, do I still have to do the instructions?

well, on second thought, it depends.
if you mean doing it beforehand, no, ive tried that and it doesnt work. it gets stuck at the second reboot.
if you mean just not looking at the screen, then thats fine.

No because the instructions are just telling you how to get into DFU?

If you already have it in DFU mode it should skip that step...or just skip it yourself

I can't get into DFU mode using the redsn0w method. Can anyone help? I have no problem with 2.2.1 or earlier firmwares but somehow on 3.0 I just can't get it to DFU. It always turn itself back onto the lock screen. Help please?

Doesn't work either. That's the age-old method for DFU. But that doesn't work. I don't know. Is there anyway for me to jailbreak without plugging my iPod to the PC first? Which means, that I need to put it into DFU (which I suspect caused by the device being plugged to a computer) without being plugged. After I put it into DFU then I plug it in. Maybe that'd work. I'll give it a try.
