Guys I have a unusual problem with WIFI connection on my 2g ipod. I have no problem connecting to my home router and to my neighbours. But I can not connect to any hotspots in the city even when they are OPEN and say free internet access. I even tried connecting to wifi at the bestbuy store and no luck but when I try the same thing with their laptops in the store they connect. And get this my ipod gets full bars and has a check marks saying that I'm connected but safari says not connected. Does anybody know what is wrong? Any suggestions?

    Thanks for your time.

try going to google and they might send you to a redirect to accept the terms.

In safari try load google and see if there are terms you must accept to in order to use the internet.

Or try your router, for a short period of time, with no security and see if you can connect. If you can't its your routers conifg.

Same thing happens in my school. Check the networks settintgs and see if there is a DNS. You might be connected with full bars, but you cant surf the internet without a dns (or at least in my experience.)

    that is the answer

there is always a accept page or whatever

When i go to to a hotspot, there a AT&T login page

after that, you can surf etc

A lot of hotspots are login pages like PennTeleData. If you join a ProLogicUnleashed or UnleashedProLogic hotspot, it's usually a PennTeleData wireless network and and you need an account to use the Internet. It's usually how that it. Also, in settings under WiFi, you need to tap the blue arrow next to the network you're on and see if IP Address, Subnet Mask, Router, and DNS are ALL filled in.

I'll try that, but you know safari tells me there is no internet connection even tho I see it connected. Is it always google.com? if not how would I know at what page I have to start.
