    I am currently creating my first theme and I would like to get rid of the glossy background behind the time/date and the same one that appears on the bottom. Hopefully someone understands what I mean.

    Make a file called Bundles, in it make a folder called com.apple.telephonyUI and in that put a bottombarbkgndlock.png. That's for behind the slider. I don't know where the top one goes. Maybe search it?

    For the glossy background behind the time/date is called "UILCDBackground.png" and that goes in a folder called "UIImages"

    So your theme would look like this:

    YOURTHEMENAME.theme
    -UIImages
    ->UILCDBackground.png

    There's one more for the one behind the dropdown controls. It's SBLockScreenControlsLCD.png in SpringBoard.app.
