I looked around, and the only ROMs I could find were the stock firmwares. Sorry :(
If you want to mess with custom ROMs, I'd suggest selling your Galaxy Player and buying a used Nexus S, EVO 4G, HD2, Incredible, or some other phone with a good dev community.

Yeah I know that. I was just suggesting getting a phone because the GP doesn't seem to be getting much attention dev-wise. Otherwise I love how big it is!

Ya but can I use a Android phone without having to activate it and justuse it as a Android player and download apps?

    Yes, you can.
Just buy a used one off of Craigslist or eBay, you don't need to activate it or put a SIM card in it.
Just like if you buy a used iPhone, you don't need to use it as a phone, some people use old iPhones strictly as iPods.

Umhmm, that's what I did. I bought an HD2 off Craigslist and use it just for apps and music. I keep it in airplane mode to save battery as well.

By any chance, are you running Android, Meego, WP7 or any other OS other than the stock Windows Mobile?

And to the OP, you can buy an Android phone and use it without activation.

    I sense sarcasm.

Anyways, Android. I would use Mango, but I need button remapping.

No sarcasm here.. The HD2 can actually run those OSes. It runs almost anything you throw at it. If you look at the HD2 section on XDA, you'll see everything you can install on it.. It's a pretty damn cool device.
