    N00B Q And A On Pwnage

    Here is my Q and A On Pwnage and Bricking And YOU!

    Q=black
    A=Red

    Q. What does pwnage Benifit?
    A. Not Much, Just that it is a way to pre-jailbreak etc. before actually installing the firmware, thus stopping the need for new jailbreaks

    Q. Is Pwnage A Better Jailbreak?
    A. No, It is different, not better, but its cooler to have it and as i have heard, Faster then j/b a normal firmware (not jailbreaking, how fast it runs after)

    Q. Is It Safe?
    A. Yes And No, It Can brick your device and yes for both the iphone and ipod touch, if it follow a good guide then and you make no problems, chances are it is safe.

    Q. Brick!?! Are You Serious!?!
    A. Yes, Thats the risk

    Q. I thought only the iphone can brick, can't i just restore?
    A. Wrong and no, The Pwnage Modifies the bootloader (aka Flashing) and if the program runs the wrong code, your bootloader with check a code and it will be blank, This happening cause the bootloader to maulfunction and will not be able to boot into the Main OSX or the Recovery OSX, So you can't restore, both iPhone's And iPod Touch's Have a bootloader, just the iphone has a baseband that can brick, baseband contains EDGE, Phone, Etc.

    Q. What Is Pwning?
    A. Modifing the bootloader to allow code check process to be bypassed so that unsigned code ( custom unofficial firmware) can be installed otherwise the custom firmware will not be installed and won't work

    Q. Is It Easy?
    A. Yes: http://www.ifans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=55633

    Q. How do i create a custom firmware (simple way)
    A. Hit Build .ipsw, find the firmware, choose what you want (a simple check or uncheck interface, then save it to a spot of your choice, and when you restore after pwning, choose that firmware insted, Easy

    Q. How Do I Create A Custom Firmware (Complicated Way)
    A. http://www.ifans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=54538

    Q. Is it for Windows And mac?
    A. Mac only right now but cmw is almost done making a windows port called WinPWN

    Q. How Do I PWN My Device?
    A. http://www.ifans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=55633

    Q. Does it jailbreak, activate, unlock, etc., all versions?
    A. Yes

    Q. Does It allow you to use 2.0 firmware?
    A. Yes it does after pwning and installing a CUSTOM 2.0 firmware, not the original, you have to modify the firmware

    Explain for the noobs what Pwning it means, and how one cannot just "pre-pwn" a firmware for someone who has not pwn'd their ipod.

    It actually allows the Code Check by the iPod Touch to be Bypassed. THAT is what Pwnage does.

    Which allows Unsigned Code to pass through.

    Khaos, you should fix that.
