I see this a lot, can anyone explain it to me?

Say your device is pwned4life on 4.0, and you upgraded to 4.1, does this mean your Cydia will not be erased?

No, it just means that the exploit used will be able to jailbreak it forever. No software update can patch the exploit. The dev teams will just have to update the jailbreak tools, and then you will rejailbreak the next firmware

Cydia will be erased every update, but once devs update their tools then you will be able to get it back.

So let's say your device is pwned4life, than you use this JB called "WhiteRain"(MADE UP) to JB 4.1. Than you update to 4.2, does this mean you can use Whiterain again to JB?

you use Whiterain v1 to Jailbreak 4.1
    4.2 comes out
    you update to 4.2
a week later (or so) Whiterain v2 comes out, which allows you to jailbreak your 4.2

    (thats how pwnd4life works)

Than what's the point of pwned4life?

I mean you're still releasing another JB right?

but its not using a new exploit a new jb uses a new exploit with Star being a 4.0 used a pdf exploit, its a lot easier to fix tools than to find a brand new exploit, being pwnd4life is a time saver with jbs

    Ah.

So you can use the same type of jailbreak, without finding others.

    Now I get it.

Once it is pwned4life, wouldn't it be faster for it to release JB?
