Putting Pictures in the Correct Format?

    I called Apple Care about two problems both concerning pictures.

    1) Saving pictures from Safari yields very blurry pictures.

    2) Syncing pictures with iTunes yields grainy pictures.

    They told me my pictures were in the wrong format even though they are .JPG files and said that it's because I was using Windows and not Mac. Can someone please explain how to put them in the right format so I don't have this problem? I'm not sure I even understand how it's in the wrong format either as I thought the .JPG was the format...

    *Windows XP, SP3
    *iTunes v8.0.1
    *Using High Quality Pictures

    WTF Apple, all my pics are synced through windows in JPG format and they come out very good. Check the size of you pics.

    I tried sizing down my pictures from high resolution to 480x340 but it gives me lower quality than what I was already getting.
