you've all heard of the blue screen of death. well i got the purple screen of death on my 2g. it says connect to itunes so i do. but, when i do it says "unknown error".

    how did this happen?

well, i just got done installing Fantastic Contraption and it says to reboot the ipod to prevent crashing so i did. when i reboot it it goes right to the purple screen of death. im currently in DFU mode and restoring.

just thought that i would warn you all that when you are running 3.0b5 and you install Fantastic Contraption that you may have a problem on your hands especially if you dont know how to go into DFU mode. thanks for your time and i will update if it fails to restore or something.

UPDATE: OH sh*t! failed to restore to 3.0b5! whats wrong?!

i thought the purple meant when you try to run 3.0 beta and you dont have your UDID registered with apple?

Either your udid is not regitered or your ipod has a error when loading the firmware. Just do DFU restore and re download your ISPW and should fix your problem

try to get ahold of a 2.2.1 ipsw and then put your ipod in dfu mode then apply the redsn0w patch(where it makes your screen white) then shift click restore

Get iTunes 8.2 if you are going to use the beta 5 of OS 3.0.

Try using the recovery loop link in my signature. I can't promise anything, but most people have had success.
