I want a portable gaming device that also acts as a media player and a hackable device (emulators, etc.) I don't really like the DS because the graphics are subpar and games aren't really for me. The PSP is expensive and I don't really see any good games for it, but I love the emulators and homebrew stuff... Should I wait, or should I get a PSP?

The PSP is the best mobile device for Emulators. It has a plethora of emulators that run really well. Plus the button placement is superb for many of the games.

Everything is basically full speed except N64. Somebody attempted to make a Dreamcast emu and had it run at like 1.5 frames per second. Somebody also ported a DS emulator, but that didn't work either.

To be honest, the iPhone should be at the point where it can run N64 games. It's more powerful than the PSP in terms of processing power and it should have a full speed GBA emulator and even a near-full speed N64 emulator. It just doesn't have the right people working on them yet...

And please, do yourself a favor and don't get the DS. The PSP rapes it in almost every aspect.

get a pandora or a gp2x. The battery life on a psp kills. (in a bad way)

If you want emulators, the PSP is a must-have.

PSP's are nice. I'll be the first to tell you some of my favorite games: FF XII Crisis Core and Ratchet and Clank Size matters, to name a few. But hacking them is HARD. I'm trying to put CFW on mine now, so if you get one, talk to me in a few weeks and I can help.
