Hey guys, I'm 100% new to the PSP hacking scene, and I was wondering how I would go about putting a custom FW (X5 to be precise) on my fat PSP. Does anyone know a completely noob-proof guide to doing this? And is X5 a good choice, I'm not really interested in piracy...? Ok thanks guys

. if all you want is that, just paste the x5 folder in //psp/ commom/ and open index.html in your browser. its nothing special really.

if you want custom firmware, see here

edit: the main thing is... do you want to make a pandora battery or buy one($6 or 7 on dealextreme). if you buy one, its super easy, making one complicates things.

    edit:

update to 5.00 m33-6, and remember, youtube is your second-best friend.

I believe 3.50 is the highest FW to be able to downgrade without a pandoras battery.

I may be wrong though. I havent been following the psp hacking scene since mine got stolen.

Ok guys. This Pandora battery thing doesn't look safe. I mean, I don't want to break my PSP or anything. If I do install a custom FW, what else can it do? And my other question: if I just want a "portal" such as X5 (the mac thing) do I even need custom FW? Thanks guys. I knew I should post here

Ah. So custom FW is mostly used for playing pirated games. Does it really have no other uses?
