Sony has just recently announced that on April 1st 2010 the sony ps3 will recieve the 3.2.1 update that will kill the ' Install Other OS' feature, previously removed from slim ps3 models

    http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/28/older-ps3s-losing-install-other-os-option-in-thursdays-firmwa/

For those who chose not to update there are no playstaion store downloads and no online play or online interactivity

UPDATE: Geohot has apologized for this inconvenience and is going to research and will try to create a custom firmware which will bypass the removal of this feature.

I thought he had released the general exploit for others to build around but as yet no one's made anything... that was my impression anyway

"On January 26, 2010, Hotz released the exploit to the public. It requires the Other OS function of the PS3 and consists of patching the Linux kernel and gaining control of the hypervisor with the help of an FPGA using a unique solder point.[17]"

All I can say is, if you people are honestly blaming Geohot for this then you should all go restore your jailbroken iPods, you hypocrites.

guys, this is the exact same thing as the Dev-Team releasing a jailbreak and Apple following this with a new firmware which wipes out the jailbreak. I dont see people saying 'screw the dev-team, now i cant jailbreak'
