2g- has speakers, volume buttons, faster, etc.
1g- doesn't have any speakers, but you can jailbreak

1G would be a better choice if you wan your ipod to look cool but if you can be patient , buy the 2G touch and slowly wait for the jailbreak .

2G looks cooler due to buttons and speaker, unless you mean "cool" because you can add themes due to jailbreaking....

Get the 2g, it's the new one and will continue to be supported while the 1g will quickly become outdated.
Why would you want last year's model when you can have the newer one??

Honestly it doesn't matter what you get. I think the speakers are cool, but as I said once before this is why I got an iPod, not a boom box.
But the 2g I'd faster, but how much faster? I don't know myself but I don't mind waiting a few extra seconds.
Only real reason I would tell someone not to get the 2g is so they wouldn't support the fact that apple will sell something, just to get something better in a year. It pisses me off

The fact that the 2g is faster means that games have less lag on the 2g than the 1g
And to tell people not to get the 2g to not support Apple as it upsets you isn't sound advice

Right now I'm still trying to figure out my emulator, and depending on how that goes it could change my advice

I wasn't telling him not to get it for that reason. I was just simply stating..
Overall, once a jailbreak is out for 2g it'd be my #1 choice. But for now 1g is fine by me. Even without a jailbreak.
So if your pretty sure there's going to be a 2g jailbreak (I'm pretty sure there will be, soon) get the 2g. Unless you don't want to support Apple's way of selling products
