There aren't many differences in the pros and cons between jailbreaking 3.0 and 2.x. The firmware itself has a lot of pros, but basically jailbreaking will give you cydia, and you can install themes and emulators and stuff. For cons, it freezes sometimes, it takes up more space, sometimes its slow. I think it's worth jailbreaking though.

Just tell your dad that nothing bad can happen, and you could restore to a backup anytime you want. So there's really nothing to risk.

I think WinterBoard has added more convenience.

There is Supreme Preferences. Isn't that new?

Now Cydia is so easy to navigate and use.

In addition to WinterBoard, WbApp provides a GUI as well.

These apps are if you do not like to SSH.

In addition, Vlc4iphone is a GUI introduction to files inside the device: iPod Touch or iPhone.

I am doing everything I like, so far, in WinterBoard, SB Setings and Make it Mine, by using what I find in Cydia.

Now that I have a GUI introduction to "customization" by themes and custom themes I can make myself, I think I want to learn how to package the theme features I like and keep the list in WinterBoard so I can change the "look" of my Touch.

I added Disk Aid to the laptop and Files Aid to the Touch. Again, it is a GUI. I am using it for transfering movies I have DL'd and converted to H264. I might keep it. iTunes has eliminated "Import" from the File menu. Isn't Disk Aid and File Aid new?

If I SSH, the landscape of the device, iPod Touch or iPhone, is laid out before you. But SSH isn't new, to the 3.0 JB. I would like to see SSH advice in one place, perhaps a sub-topic.

As for apps: BlueTooth, at Cydia, is much more fun than Fake a Phone, etal.

Many of us hope it will be a template for the real Touch Bluetooth GUI.
