I was bored the other day, so I threw together these images in Photoshop. I was inspired by Shepard Fairey, and George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four, which I had just finished reading.

Tell me what you think, it's nothing earth-shattering, but then again, I am not much of an artist.

If you want the .psd's to mess around with, I can send them to you.

They don't look very bad, pretty plain but nice.

I wouldn't leave the "1984" on the second one, though. People who understand the reference don't need it, and those who don't are most likely under the age of fourteen and don't need to understand it anyway. In my opinion, it kind of detracts from the message of the image (I'm not saying it's meant to be taken to heart as in the novel, but I'm tired and am having trouble putting my thoughts into as few words as possible, which is my usual behavior).

I don't get the 1984 reference. I thought it was the Tienanmen square massacre...

If you have read 1984, you will understand it. "Freedom is Slavery", "Ignorance is Strength", and "War is Peace" are three elements of the way of thought (ingsoc) forced upon the people by the Party.
