Anyone know if a notification (or some indication) is made when an iPod Touch or iPhone is connected to a computer running iTunes?

In short I wonder if a program I'm running on the iPod Touch can detect that the touch is getting ready to sync with iTunes...

    Anyone?

I'm going to try something today, and if I figure it out I'll be sure to post the answer here.

I'd like to say I figured this out, but I just tracked down the pieces and implemented them... Erica Sadun provided the framework for handling notifications in an article she published in August of '08 called "iPhone Notifications"

Using this framework and tracking down the appropriate notification strings, I could get notified of all sorts of things, blanked screen, plugged in, and or course: itunes-mobdev.syncWillStart and itune-mobdev.syncDidFinish.

    Cheers!
