I'm not sure where to post this so it's going here. I received my iPod Touch from my school as part of integrating technology in the classroom. They put the profile onto the Touch and it is supposed to expire in a few days. What does this mean to me and what should I do about it?

Never of this before. I'm guessing because its nearly the start of the next school year, the profile that you have must last for a year.

I would think you will have to contact the school/college about it.

Off topic: Wow, you college gave you an iPod touch? I wish mine would do that...

Robert Morris University in Chicago. I'm in the masters program for MIS program. They wrote a grant and while I love the touch, the usability in the classroom for coursework is extremely limited. I wish we had gotten netbooks. The cost would have been similar and the productivity would have been much greater. That said, I love the Touch so much that I'm about to get an iPhone 4.

Does anyone know what purpose the profile plays?

It's a Provisioning Profile for adding apps in xcode and won't affect you.

That's what I thought but I know so little about Apple products that I was mildly concerned. What would happen if I deleted the profile?

At my school, i also need a profile installed, but that's only needed to use the wireless network of my school.
I don't know about yours though.
