    Ok, first:

What OS are you using? Windows XP, Vista or Mac OS X

What version of iTunes are you running?

Are you using a full powered, USB 2.0 port? Not one on a keyboard or screen.

i have the same problem. mine did that and i brought mine back to apple. it did the same thing on their computers. they replaced it and this new one does it too. i evetually got it back to normal by deleting the settings on the ipod. i decided to downgrade the firmware. i just did it on sunday so i will see if it does it again in a few days. i have windows vista with full powered usb and newest itunes.

The problem is: You have enabled auto sync, turn that off and problem solved (I might be wrong, but give it a try)

uhh why do i have to have autosync on. we should be able to manage our music manually without the ipod breaking.
