Hello and thank you for reading.

I just received my iPod touch today through the mail (the guy said it was a 16GB ipod, the box says its 16 gb, however the back says that its 8gb so yey for liars!)

Anyway, regardless of the getting gypped off, I now have a problem actually using the damn thing.

When I open it, it says : iPod is disabled, connect to iTunes (and everything is locked)
Okay, so I download iTunes and when I open that it says : iTunes could not connect to iPod because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter the passcode on theiPod before it can be used with iTunes.

however, even if I knew the passcode, which I don't, I still wouldn't be able to plug is it because the iPod is locked...

So yeah, is there any way I can just format the HD and start anew?

I've tried closing the iPod and opening it again and it hasn't helped.

    Thank you for reading this!

turn off your ipod, turn it on while holding the home buttom and it should get into restore mode. but connect it to the computer and its gonna show up on itunes as in restore mode, there you just need to download the firmware and restore it

Okay, most iPods arent locked, so it is probably an iPhone??
And, just take it to apple to tell them to fix it. Maybe, use ZiPhone 2.6B to do something. Are you any good with iPod Touches? If not, then I say go to Apple.

No no, there is definitely NO camera on it, and I can plug my normal Sony headphones in, so it is a Touch

Is it an iPhone?? does it have buttons on the side?

The way to unlock it is to just restore it.

You can set a passcode in options in a Touch, so I imagine that's what the guy did.

Thank you very much, I'm restoring it as we speak!

btw, is it easy to jailbreak it? or should I have someone with more experience do it?
