So I have looked for over an hour before I posted such a basic question but I have no idea how to install new themes on my JB touch.

Cydia and Winterboard has installed fine and I have been able to download some but from there I am stumped.
Can someone point me in the right direction? Do I need something else? Thanks.

You could search it, and you might even want to press back a few times for themes section of the forum. You could download releases there, then SSH into your ipod, or you could search themes in cydia and apply them.

I'm new to the jailbreak, too.

Here is a tutorial for Winterboard for beginners:

    and here: http://www.hackthatphone.com/2x/graphics_locations.html

Here is another http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HaePj...eature=related to use SSH and FTP.

http://thebigboss.org/2009/06/22/sbsettings-30-1-repack/ has links for two SSH software for Windows, iPhone Browser and iFunBox and one for MAC, iFuntastic.

In addition, DiskAid 3.0 reportedly works. It has a free trial.

To use SSH, using a command line, use MAC Terminal or Windows WinSCP and putty. ref: http://thebigboss.org/guides/install-and-use-ssh/

I also have found screenshots of some of the existing themes, by using google.

    Thanks for the tips!
I have managed to download a few things from Cydia and got them installed.
I haven't attempted to use SSH yet but it seems to be pretty straight forward.
