I tried Jailbreaking my brothers 8GB iTouch 3g using Redsn0w 0.9.2. It "installed" cydia, but would not get out of the restore options for itunes, and I couldn't force restart his iPod. I then tried jailbreaking again, this time with the option to tether, and I was stuck at the same part. Then I gave up and just attempted to restore his iPod back to 3.1.2.

I'm currently working on just completely moving him up to 3.1.3. Do you think he'll be okay and be able to use his iPod, or did I really screw this up?

If you have upgraded to 3.1.3 his iPod will work fine (you cannot "brick" an iPod), however you will not be able to jailbreak it.

To jailbreak it, you will need to find a copy of the iPod touch 2nd Gen 3.1.2 firmware and restore to that. Jailbreak with Blackra1n and you will be fine.

You will not be able to jailbreak it, if it hardware is 3.1.3.
