I downloaded spirit. When I tried to run it, it said that I needed to have iTunes 9. I did have it, but I tried updating to 9.1.1 anyway. That didn't help. I have tried running in and out of compatibility mode. It will NOT work. What can I do?

This is what I ended up doing

I assume you're running something normal like windows. Is there more than one verion of itunes installed? it may not be showing up, but it may well be in there....

Have you tried uninstalling itunes, then re-installing it?

I don't have more than one version for sure. I recently wiped my computer and have only installed it once. If I uninstall it, would I lose all of my playlists and music and everything?

When I downloaded it, it came up as being a virus, so needless to say, I didn't run it. Can someone verify that is 100% not a virus?

It's not a virus but if you are afraid to run it you can fix it manually. You need to make a copy of this file "itunesmobiledevice.dll" Leave the original and make sure the other one is named "itunesmobiledevice2.dll". You can find it in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support on win64 or C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support on win32.
