I have a jailbroken 2nd gen ipod touch
It's worked like a charm for a while
It just recently won't start the music and video apps
I click on them, and it opens but doesn't show any information, just white where the albums should be and a blank bar on the bottom
After about 5-15 seconds, it goes back to the home screen
    I WANT MY MUSIC BACK
    PLEASE HELP!

(I want to try not to restore if at all possible)

What's the last thing you modified? Have you tried syncing to iTunes?
Also, what happens when you double tap the home button and tap the play button?

The last thing I just did with it was twitter, but the only thing I did with the memory last on itunes was sync a few albums. I tried desyncing them, and resyncing them, but it still didn't work after I desynced and tried, then resynced and tried.
I tried the double-tap home and hit play, and it didn't work
    I know it's frustrating

I haven't done those exact things.
I synced the ipod touch but it didn't help, and I rebooted my ipod, and it didn't help, but I didn't try that combo. I'll see if I can do that later. Did you just hit the sync button? Or do you mean just sync something?

fthsjustin, I'm trying not to restore. If worst comes to worst, then I'll restore, but I've done a crapton with this and I don't want to lose it.

the reboot and sync didn't work
I exited the sync before it finished and entered the music app
the music app said "canceling sync" and then I unplugged it
This got it to work, but when I resynced back some music, it didn't work again because the process had quit. So I had to do the same trick I did before again
Now i just hope I can keep the music process going
Please I need a permanent solution

    screw it

I'm just gonna restore my ipod
it's not worth the hassle to me right now, and I can just do everything again over time.

If you have any ideas for what I could have done, please don't hesitate to post!

Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. If that doesnt work, restore and rejailbreak.
