Okay, I've just got a new iPod Touch 3G (32gb, if that makes any difference) but I'm having problems.

I've jailbroken it (with blackra1n), however I can't install Cydia off of the blackra1n app. It gives the error code -1005 "lost network connection". However, Rock installs fine.

But then, when I try and download ANYTHING (and I literally mean ANYTHING) off Rock, it fails to download, giving me the error -1005 (again).

What the hell could be the problem here? It seems to completely defeat the purpose of jailbreaking the device in the first place if I can't bloody download anything. It's really annoying me right now.

Thanks in advance to anyone who tries to help me.

Yeah, I can surf the net with it.

I found though that it's not just jailbroken apps that won't download. It's any application from the App Store, or any DLC within an app, apart from one which I got to work.

I decided to just take the blow and restore it to 3.1.3. I'll wait until they figure out a way to downgrade to 3.1.2 or wait for a future jailbreak.

It sounds like there was something wrong with the jailbreak. Personally, I suggest people use redsn0w over blackra1n, since it seems to be a cleaner jailbreak with fewer problems. More buttons to push, but fewer 'Cydia doesn't work/it keeps resetting' issues later.

    I agree.

I've read many more complaints about BlackRa1n than Redsn0w.

It could be a cydia problem. I mean it is buggy and it crashes. But i agree, try using Redsn0w.

Of course, you could also try using Rock, if you don't want to go through the whole process of jailbreaking again.

Just select Rock, instead of Cydia. See if it works. They have the same sources, btw.

He already said Rock didn't work. Ditto App Store - it looks like the jailbreak failed and the permissions for the root user and Cydia got screwed up.

Before restoring, I'd just suggest using redsn0w to install Cydia again, and to fix permissions.

Do you guys know what happened to Icy? It used to be really great, but now it's gone for some reason...?
