I was using Categories to put a newly installed game into my games folder, and 20 of the 28 games I had in the folder are now gone.

What do I do? I tried rebooting, but nothing.

Am I going to have to redownload everything?

OK, I tried re downloading some of the programs, but they are still not showing up.

So... what do I do now? Do I need to restore the iPod?

Just great... went into settings, and erased all content and settings, now I'm stuck on the boot screen.

My iPod is bricked now, isn't it?

iTunes won't let me restore to the custom firmware. I have tried this.

I think I need the default firmware, where could I find that?

... It won't even turn on, I would call that bricked, would you prefer frozen? Whatever you want to call it, the thing does not turn on.

I am getting error 1601 when I try to restore it to the custom firmware.

Can't try quickgold, I can't boot up the iPod now.

Can't resync either, as iTunes only recognizes it in DFU Mode.

I'm downloading the 2.2.1 firmware now, hoping that will do something.

OK, so it seems to be restoring now to the default firmware. Thank God.

Thanks to everyone for your help. I'd rather have a stock iPod than a $250 paperweight.

    Update:

I now have the iPod running, but I am having a problem with my apps. Anything I try to download does not show up on the springboard anywhere. I do not have Categories installed, so there shouldn't be any way they are in some other folder, from what I can tell. I can't seem to get into SSH either, although the SBSettings show that it is on.

It has let me install around 4 apps altogether. AppBackup shows the other apps I should have installed, but won't let me restore them. I can't sync them from iTunes either...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
