I read the "How To" downgrading tutorial and I am already stuck on step 2. I have my software bundle file right here but how am I supposed to extract files from it? Is this only possible on a Mac or something or is it a little simple step in between I'm missing? Thanks

If you're having problems with one way, try another way.

There are in fact a few ways to downgrade.

Make sure you do that from the 1.1.3 homescreen.

Once done, shift-click 'Restore' and select the file you downloaded.

Uh, that method doesnt work for everyone, if you want to force restore...

    1. Make sure iPod is off

    2. Connect cable, while holding home button

    3. iPod powers up, keep holding the home button.

    4. iTunes asks you to restore...

Either way, i dont think you can downgrade like that...

You need to use the WTF file thingy...

Make sure you're not typing 1s instead of lowercase Ls.

The correct filename looks weird in notepad, try copying it from this page:
    WTF.s5l8900xall.RELEASE.dfu

so, if you make the lowercase Ls uppercase, it's:
    WTF.s5L8900xaLL.RELEASE.dfu

    easier downgrade method

here's an easier way: download this: http://[PIRACY.rs].com/files/84859979/AutoDown.zip.html

    2. Extract the files to your Desktop.
    3. Open the AutoDown folder and run the file called "down"
    4. Press enter
    5. Press enter again once the connect to iTunes shows up.
    6. Open iTunes
    7. Restore it to 1.1.1, shift-click and select the 1.1.1 firmware
    8. Once updated choose the backup or set up as new iPod.

watch a video on how to do it: http://youtube.com/watch?v=zWbCmFOKIe4

this should work, it worked for me
