I just got my Ipod touch 2g this morning and i went to apply the software update and i keep getting this message "There was a problem downloading the ipod software for the ipod "". The network connection timed out. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later". I am connected to the internet, obviously. Ive trided appying the udated on two computers. I can also not hear my music, but i can hear sound on apps, etc, but no music sound. The only solution i can think of doing is just restoring it, thoughts?

You can't hear music coming out of the headphones, speaker or both?

And your internet connection may be too slow and is causing the software download to time out.

both, but its weird now i can hear music so idk what was wrong. i doubt my internet connection is too slow bc i have comcast hi speed. could it be something with the firewalls blocking the download? it will start downloading to a certain point and then it will just stop.

This happened to me before when trying to download an older software update and it was because the internet connection was cutting out on me for a split second or two and that dropped the whole download. The second iTunes recognizes a dropped connection the download cancels out instead of pausing - a really annoying feature.

You could get the firmware 2.2 update directly from http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware

Is your volume turned up on the volume rocker?

That's the only advice I could give you. Maybe someone else knows.
