I have an iPod touch with firmware version 1.1.2, and I want to downgrade it to 1.1.1 so that I can jailbreak it.

I have downloaded the firmware at http://www.[PIRACY.mu].com/?d=V7H8X2QQ , but when I alt+click on update in iTunes (on Mac), and select the file on the desktop, it reads:

    "An unknown error occurred (1403)."

What do I need to do?

Thanks very much for your help.

It's alt+click on a Mac, I think. Anway, the dialogue box comes up and I choose the file from my desktop, and then there's the error message.

    Thanks.

I had same prolem and i solved it...
first download 1.1.1 firmware and save it at workspace, then go to itunes click "shift +restore" choose 1.1.1 firmware, at "preparing ipod for ..." it tell you error 1602. Ok so, connect your ipod to itunes again in recovery mode, click on shift+restore, choose 1.1.1 firmware and open it again, now it may work
