I have been trying to change my MAC address on my ipod 2g but after i put in the right commands in Terminal the address does not change.

I put in ifconfig en0 ether (mac address)
Terminal accepts the command but when i check ifconfig the address has not changed.

I cant seem to find an answer anywhere on the intertubes so i'm sorry if this is a repost.

Maybe iPoT hardware is not accepting this action :> such actions may couse problems in network, this is why some producers may lock such possibility. MAC is hardware physical address and in standard should not be change.

i'm also having this problem. I use my ipod touch 1g on my university wifi network by clonng my laptops mac address to the touch. However in the 2nd generation touch the command has not caused any change. Like the OP stated, terminal accepts the command but the mac Address remains unchanged. Does anyone know the updated or new command that will change the touch's mac address?
    Much appreciated!

Try a program on Cydia called SpoofMAC. I've used that and it doesn't seem to have a problem completing the job.
