Hey Guys, I'm recently getting back into the Jailbreaking and Unlocking community. I currently am going to be receiving an iPhone 4 unlocked with the Gevey SIM Ultra but... I'm a bit confused. The phone currently has iOS 5.0.1 SHSH Blobs on it but how can I upgrade to 5.0.1 WHILE conserving my current baseband. It's 100% important that I preserve my baseband or forever I am f***ed and can never use the phone again ^_^. Which program will allow me to upgrade to 5.0.1 and keep my baseband (and NOT let me upgrade to 5.1)
Use Redsn0w, it provides an option to make and use a custom firmware with preserved baseband. Also, if the iPhone is locked to AT&T you should now be able to get it unlocked officially for free, removing the need for an unlock with gevey since it's a pain in the ass. There's a few recent articles about that if you haven't kept up to date.
Oh you mean that AT&T is unlocking iphones. I've never been an AT&T Customer however, so they won't unlock my phone.
Open redsn0w 0.9.10b6 and go to Extras > Custom IPSW to create a 5.0.1 IPSW that WILL NOT update your baseband. Open TinyUmbrella, get your 5.0.1 SHSHs saved in there, Start TSS Server, enter Pwned DFU mode with redsn0w (Extras > Pwned DFU), SHIFT + click "Restore", and select the NO_BB IPSW redsn0w made.
you don't have to have been an AT&T cust. All I told them was that I had bought the iPhone 4 second hand and that I wanted to unlock it. They filled out a form and they said they would send the request to apple and email or call back. It's way too simple. All you need is the IMEI, an email address, and contact number. 800-331-0500 is what I called good luck
Irrelevant. As long as the dude's contract is up (they probably wont care if you bought it second hand) then they'll tell Apple to send you an unlock code.
I JUST! Finished a call with them, I gave them everything they required and they'll be sending me an e-mail in 5-7 days, I hope this works... I'm utterley sick of worrying about Basebands, Gevey, and what not. it's an terrible pain. Thanks you all!
OH YEAH! I called yesterday for an Unlock, they said they're would be instructions in my e-mail in 5-7 days. I woke up today and they're was instructions. In just 24 hours. It just told me to restore the iPhone. I didn't want to, because... what if it didn't work then I didn't want to go through all that crap again. BASICALLY. I opened redsn0w > jailbreak > dfu > on the options page I checked "Deactivate" for it to actually go through Apple's activation system and yes it worked. I don't use Gevey anymore, it's a factory unlocked iPhone. Best of luck to all of you! Thank you for all the help!
