My ipod seems to be going down the gutter, i plug it into my computer and it comes up with charging, turns onto the standby screen and then the screen gets lots of lines going across it and powers down.

Not sure if this is battery related or something else, it does need a new headphone jack too, i mean do apple products have an expiry date? like where everything goes up the creek and they have no legal obligation to repair the items?

Well you get a years warrenty with you ipod, but if its damaged through water they wont replace it, try a restore first though see if that fixes anything.
